I am directing a mandarin play for this year's short and sweet festival. I am auditioning for a lead actor and two lead actresses. The information of the characters is as follows: --

1. Qiang Zi -- a late 20s to early 30s (if you look or can act old its fine too!) farm labourer who has no experience in love or even sex. Wants a wife but dont want to leave the side of his mother. Not educated and rather boorish but should have a decent body frame and physique due to his manual labour

2. Wife -- all age range. Very scheming and cruel woman who has no qualms about breaking up families. a very bitter woman who was divorced once and is all out to ensure she doesn't spend the rest of her life bearing the stigma of being a divorced single woman in china. Requires considerable acting skills. Should look rather pretty, dont have to be stunning, chinese or look chinese with long hair.

3. Mother -- late 40s to early 60s if possible. The ultimate mother. Loves the son so much she doesnt mind sacrificing everything, including her life just to ensure that her son is not alone for the rest of his life. Has endured a lot of hardships in her life but everything she does, is so to make sure her son has a better life.

All actor should be proficient in mandarin. If not at least understand mandarin rather well.

As this is a production for Short and Sweet festival, I am afraid there wont be renumeration. But the exposure that you will receive could potentially be beneficial to your budding acting career. I would also do my utmost to ensure that this production would be a memorable one. But i do need actors who will be committed and willing to listen to directions. This would not be an easy script.
